PLANNING MEETING

January 5, 2010

AGENDA

  1. Call to order
  2. Opening prayer: Lord, enlighten my understanding, strengthen my will, purify my heart, and make me Holy.  Help me to rise above my human weaknesses, and to grow stronger as a Christian.  Let me see myself as I really am: a pilgrim in this world, born to respect and love all whose lives I touch.  Help me to conquer anger with gentleness, greed by generosity, apathy by fervor.  Help me to forget myself and to reach out toward others.  Make me prudent in planning, courageous in taking risks, patient in suffering and unassuming in prosperity.  Keep me, Lord, attentive at prayer, temperate in food and drink, diligent in my work, firm in my good intentions.  Let my conscience be clear, my conduct without fault, my speech blameless, and my life well ordered.  Put me on guard against my human weaknesses.  Let me cherish your love for me, keep your law, and come at last to your salvation.  Teach me... that life on earth is short, and the life to come eternal.  Help me to prepare for death with a proper fear of judgment, but an even greater trust in your goodness.  Grant this through Christ our Lord.  Amen
  3. Membership report
  4. Treasurer’s report
  5. Financial Secretary’s report
  6. Grand Knight’s report

      a. A leadership meeting sponsored by the State Council will take place January 16, 2010.  The GK will attend. Other officers planning to attend should let me know at this meeting, as I must send in an RSVP with a list of proposed attendees

      b.  Kitchen Crews for business meetings:  The idea for one officer to take charge for each meeting has started out well.  We had a surprisingly good response from the newer members.  Dick Butler has volunteered for the next meeting -- I'll give him a copy of the list of newer members [three or less years on the Council] at this meeting.  This may need updating per members admitted this year.

     c.   REMINDER: The day of our next Business Meeting, January 19th, is also the Special Election Day to fill the U.S. Senate Seat.  Patriotism is our 4th Principle -- don't forget to vote

     d.   The State Council has strongly endorsed the idea of each Council having a special event honoring our priests during this Fraternal Year.  Fr. Soranno has indicated his availability for February 16, 2010. He will Check with Fr. Glover.  We have also received a letter from Fr. Riel, Diocesan liaison to the Knights, indicating an intent to visit several Councils this year.  Inviting him that night might make sense.  It is also worthy to consider inviting Frs. John Gawienowski, Doug McGonagle, Deacon Jim Ziemba and our two sponsored seminarians.

     e. Ceremonial presentation of Check to Survival Center at January 19th Business Meeting:  Should we invite GK of I.O. Council, with an eye toward a joint function next year??

  1. Committee reports:

          1) Basketball Free Throw - Sal Mollica.

          2) 25/100 Club -- WE DRAW TONIGHT.

          3) Thanks Walter Markett, Ed Crawford and Ron Serra for stepping up to run the Toy Drive.   After Action Report?

    8. New Business

Don Flannery has agreed to Chair the St. Pat's Dinner.  He'll be given a list of our newer members, in an effort to encourage their active participation.

  1. 9.    Correspondence

    10.  Closing prayers: Our Father, Hail Mary x 3, Glory

Next Council Business meeting – January 19, 2010;  Next Council Planning meeting – February 2 , 2010

Just want to let you know that we are in full gear towards the 2010 Men’s Conference.   It will be held on Saturday, March 13th – same time and same place – Cathedral High School.  The brochures should be distributed in January.

We have Raymond Arroyo from EWTN coming.  I am waiting for a firm confirmation from Joe Klecko – former NY Jet football player and we expect Michael Preisler who is thought to be the only living Catholic survivor of Aushwitz spending 2 ½ years in the camp.

Please spread the word!

God bless you all – Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family

In Christ
